About the Event
Antonio Alas, arrived in Canada over 30 years ago. As most immigrants, he needed to find a way of staying connected to his Latin-American culture. Playing his guitar and writing songs became the way to stay express his love for El Salvador, his homeland. Thus began his career as a musician and singer in London.
Antonio Alas has become the frontman of his Mariachi band. Folk music from Mexico and other countries in Latin America are explored through the Antonio Alas Mariachi performances. Antonio plays the accordion, requinto, guitar, and is the composer of several of the band’s songs. Antonio is accompanied by his long time musical comrades Javier Palacios, second voice, vihuela, guitarrón; Cristian Daboud,  third voice, guitar and guitarron; and Iván Hidalgo, backup vocals and guitar.
