About the Event
12 - 2 pm - Marque Smith
Marque Smith studied classical piano at The Royal Conservatory of Music and jazz piano at Humber College. He was the accompanist of The Nathaniel Dett Chorale from 2000-2004 and was the music director of The Caribbean Chorale of Toronto as well as The DAREARTS Choir. Marque has taught music at Royal St. George’s College and also has performed at events honouring such world leaders as Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Theatre engagements include Evita with Etobicoke Musical Productions, The Secret Garden with The York Weston Players and Cinderella and Bye, Bye Birdie with No Strings Theatre.
3 - 5 pm - Dawn Gibson
Since the age of three, Dawn has wanted to be a professional musician. She recalls doing an aptitude and rhythm test in order to be able to start learning guitar at such a young age. The first question was, "Why do you want to learn to play the guitar?" Her answer then, was, "Because one day I want to be a rock and roll star." That remains her answer today. Dawn Gibson has toured professionally in the past opening for John Cougar Mellancamp and tom Cochrane. She took a long hiatus and back out chasing my dream now. Dawn Gibson has spent the last two years honing her solo act.
7 - 9 pm - Saveria
Singer, songwriter and producer Saveria began singing at the age of 8 and by age 14, she had already developed a competence for guitar and songwriting. Saveria’s single “Down to the Roots” charted #3 on iTunes Canada, and plays on nationwide radio. February 2020, she received global attention from her American Idol audition Season 18 EP1.
