About the Event
Phil Kikuchi was born in London, Canada, He began his professional music career over 25 years ago playing acoustic guitar and singing covers in pubs, clubs, weddings and funerals throughout Canada.
His range of ability on the guitar is full of the texture and musicality you would expect from a lifetime of study, writing, teaching and performing.
Writing stories based on fiction and personal experiences, Willem James Cowan’s music aims to lighten the burden and offer solace to a generation faced with climate anxiety and social stigma. By weaving together both fresh and familiar musical elements, Cowan has been able to gain notable recognition through a number of accolades. Including the Fanshawe College’s Songwriter of the Year award, and Summerfolk Festival’s “Youth Discoveries” contest. His debut album, Mourning in the Morningtime, caught the attention of Canadian folk icon Dan Mangan and showcases some of his best writing to date.
