LBMX Place Musician Mentorship Program: Mentee Information
Mentees - Solo
Each mentee will be paired with a fellow mentee and a mentor. Each mentor (1) – mentee (2) team will have the opportunity to perform together six (6) times in various performance configurations of London Arts Live program. Each performance will be 2 hours over the summer and fall 2023 in public settings (e.g. Movie in the Park, Dundas Place car free street festivals). Also, mentees will participate in monthly mentorship sessions with their mentor and a fellow mentee:

2 one-on-one sessions with the mentor.

4 group mentorship sessions with a fellow mentee and the mentor including co-planning/co-creation for LAL music performances.

Topics for mentorship sessions include entrepreneurship, artistic development, training tools/strategies/opportunities, the trend of the national/international music sector, and career development
Budget
All mentees will be also provided with meaningful professional development opportunities through music sector specific workshops. Each session will be facilitated by relevant industry professionals to support further development. Topics include:

Music industry and Law (copyright, song writing agreements, performance royalties, etc.)

Finance Management (taxes)

Grant Proposal Development

Marketing and Communications

Mentee Qualifications
-
Must be 18 years of age or older.
-
Identify as an emerging musician who is developing skills through regular training, skill development, and practice.

Has keen interest in developing new skills and learning experiences.
-
Is passionate, adaptable, and flexible.
Mentees - Band
Each mentee band will be paired with one established band (mentor band). Each mentor-mentee band will have the opportunity to participate in an organic mentorship session through co-planning and co-creating two (2) 2-hour Saturday evening concerts featuring each band’s music. The concerts will take place in the summer, outside on Dundas Place (267 Dundas Street), the entrance to the downtown core area. A sound tech, audio equipment and staging will be provided for each concert.
Budget
All mentee band members will also be provided with meaningful professional development opportunities through music sector specific workshops. Each session will be facilitated by relevant industry professionals to support further development. Topics include:
