Friends since Kindergarten, Matthew Martin and Brian Kijewski formed Trusty Fox in 2014 seeking to meld the emotional intensity and subtly complex musicianship of indie folk artists like the Milk Carton Kids and Ben Howard with the infectious energy of folk pop artists like The Lumineers and Passenger. Their debut EP, released July 2015, features Matt’s baritone voice and Brian’s passionate lead guitar playing.
Matthew is a finger-style acoustic guitarist, singer-songwriter, and professional guitar teacher for over 45 weekly students. He has studied classical guitar at Western University and participated in workshops with finger-style guitar masters, Don Ross and Tony McManus. Matthew has also studied flamenco guitar in Spain and electric guitar via correspondence lessons with internationally-renowned virtuoso, Tom Hess.
Brian Kijewski is a life-long self-taught musician. Born without sight, Brian has taught himself guitar, keyboard, and bass completely by ear which has helped him develop a unique style and a very high level of musicianship. Before moving to London to study Music Industry Arts at Fanshawe College and join Trusty Fox, Brian performed in several experimental post-rock bands in Toronto.
